Our
Environmental action
In the Mayan community of Pacchen, the relationship with nature is not only a tradition, but a deep commitment to the well-being of the environment and future generations. We are guardians of the forest that surrounds us and we have united under community agreements to protect and conserve our natural environment that consists of 3,100 hectares.

Forest and wildlife protection
Our community has a unanimous agreement to be the protectors of the forest. Hunting is strictly forbidden, and we live in harmony with the local fauna, respecting all the species that inhabit our surroundings: mongoose and spider monkeys, pumas, jaguars, white-tailed deer, anteaters, badgers, wild turkeys. This relationship of mutual respect allows us to coexist close to the animals that surround us and to see them on our walks, since our homes are integrated into the landscape, always taking care not to alter the ecological balance.

Water treatment and filtration
Pacchen is surrounded by a beautiful system of cenotes, lakes and lagoons, so we consider water a sacred resource and treat it with the utmost respect. We have a water filtration system to ensure that the water we use, both for drinking and other purposes, is carefully treated before being returned to our lagoons and natural springs. This process ensures that our waters remain clean and healthy for generations to come.
Fire prevention and cleaning of natural areas
We know that prevention is key to avoiding natural disasters. For this reason, we carry out periodic cleanups and controlled cuts to create firebreaks to reduce the risk of forest fires, protecting both our community and the biodiversity that inhabits our forests.

At Pacchen, we have been participating in the environmental and land management services program of CONAFOR (National Forest Commission of Mexico) for years because living in harmony with nature is not only a tradition, it is a way of life. We protect our environment and preserve the natural riches that give us life, following sustainable practices that allow us to continue enjoying the forest and its resources in a responsible way.
